Should You Rent Your Bridal Lehengas?

The Big Fat  Indian wedding is getting bigger. The costs for  hosting a   3 or 4 day wedding  extravaganza is becoming insanely high.

When you look at the various cost items where you can probably cut down or economize,  the bridal dresses and jewellery costs could be options.

A  beautifully tailored   wedding lehenga is quite expensive  and a designer one even more so. The starting costs   for  buying a very simple lehenga would be anywhere between Rs 20000/piece to Rs25000/piece. Designer lehengas would start at Rs. 2,00,000/ piece and could go up to Rs10,00000/piece. Yes, you heard us right , that is what it  would actually cost.

Are you willing to spend that much for a bridal lehenga  ? Well you could,  of course,  opt for a simpler lehenga that would not cost so much . However , chances are that they may not meet your requirements .More importantly, you will  most probably wear it just once in your lifetime. Is it worth all the money ?Add to it , the costs of  dresses for the other wedding functions, such as  the sangeet, the mehendi ,the reception and similar functions  could make for a very significant expense.  You will have to spend on jewellery too. The bride has to be suitable adorned. The polki jewellery worn by brides would cost anywhere between Rs 4,00,000 to Rs 8,00,000 of rupees. Then the bracelets, the maang tikka, the anklets, the rings and the bangles, they all add to the cost.

Well well well, there are choices to be made , especially when you decide you do not want to spend a lot of money on things that you will not use later. Why not rent a bridal lehenga  for the main wedding , a gown for the sangeet function and  a sari for the reception ?
